A court on the Indonesian resort island of Bali sentenced an Indonesian man Monday to 20 years in jail for murdering a Japanese female tourist last year. The Denpasar District Court found David Goltar Wicaksono, 26, guilty of murdering Rika Sano, 33, after sexually assaulting her in the Kuta beach area last September. Police found Sano’s half-naked body in bushes on an unattended plot of land near the famous beach last year. According to the verdict, Wicaksono first tried to rape Sano’s friend Mayumi Someya, who escaped by running away to her hotel. While Someya was away reporting the attack to police, Wicaksono went to the hotel posing as a policeman and lured Sano away to the area of the bushes, where he raped and then murdered her by beating her head with a log. He then returned to her hotel room and stole her property.

I think that this man is a coward in doing this because he has no self respect. I feel sorry for the women he raped and killed. People who do this, in my point of view should just be put away for a very long time to think about what they have done and then be put in their place.

Atomic-bomb survivors and mayors, as well as members of nongovernmental organizations from around the world, held a 2-km march Sunday in New York City to seek the elimination of nuclear weapons ahead of a major nonproliferation review. Calls for a nuclear-free world were also made at other events in New York, many led by Japanese campaigners who are visiting the city to have their voices heard at the five-year U.N. Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty Review Conference that starts Monday and will run through May 28. Marching from Times Square in midtown Manhattan to UN headquarters on the East River, the demonstrators led by Hiroshima Mayor Tadatoshi Akiba and Nagasaki Mayor Tomihisa Taue.

I think that these people marching are very courageous in standing up for what they believe in, which in many marches is the main reason. The reason for them doing this is because of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War ll. It devastated them when that happened to them and now they want to be heard so this wont happen again or so there wont be anything else to do with nuclear weapons or war. Because that is not the right solution to foreign problems. I think that people from different countries should just sit down and talk about their problems with another country, to find the right solution to anything, without having to fight about it through war.

In this article they talk about how this club in Tokyo has brought dance-music culture into the mainstream. It is know as “Womb,” which has grown to become a globally respected venue. It has claimed to be the 4th best club in Tokyo, according to Britain’s DJ Magazine. Many DJ’s praise this club to being the very best. This club opened up to get different kinds of music out into the mainstream, so people could experience more different types of music. Many people enjoy going to the club for the enjoyment of the music that comes from all over the world because of different DJ’s. This has become a very popular club ever since its opening; because of its sound system, the dance floor, the people, and just the overall atmosphere of it.

I think this club is awesome from the pictures that I have seen of it. I would like to someday go to Tokyo just to go party at it. I think it has came a very long way in its making, because it seems that the club scene wouldn’t have been much without this club. I feel that the people who brought it up, did a excellent job in doing so, not just the fact of making a huge, awesome club, but because of changing the way people look at the club scene.

Many Ivorians May Be Left Out From Vote

In Ivory Coast many people will not be able to vote. There were pictures plastered on school walls all over the country offered a stark reminder of the division in this identity-obsessed nation. On one side are the people that are eligible to vote and on the other, their not able to. The ones able; the government has deemed good members of society. The ones unable; their identities have fallen under official suspicion. This type of segregation for votes is due to ten years of war and riots. And soon after the pictures went up the astonishment at being excluded gave way to urgent reality. Many were just excluded because nobody knew if they were Ivorian or foreign.

I think that this is absolutely not right. That everyone should get a say in how they want their government to be run. To stick up for what they believe in and thinks is the right thing to do. Even though some people might not be full Ivoirian, everyone should still get a chance to vote, even though they get look at different because of all those years of fighting. This basically means they have a lot to say but none of it will go officially to the government. What would you do if you were had a government status for Ivory Coast?

Sven-Göran Eriksson

Swedish Coach Sven-Goran Eriksson was given the job to coach the Ivory Coast through the World Cup on Sunday March, 29. Before that he managed England at the 2002 and 2006 World Cup finals. He also helped Mexico out for 10 months prior to being assigned the Ivory Coast. He is extremely happy and excited to be doing this. Even thought Ivory Coast is in the World Cup’s “group of death”, as they call it. He believes if the team really put forth effort into it, they will get through the World Cup just fine. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be a challenge to endure. They will have to go against Brazil, Portugal, and North Korea, which are in their first round group.

I think that Eriksson can really pull this challenge off. If he really tries to put the team ahead and strive to win, then they will able to do so. They might not be good; well that’s what people think because the Ivory Coast isn’t that popular in football, soccer. And because it is in Africa, they think that they are just people who play in their countries leagues. But they have many players who play in Europe. Like on teams Chelsea, Barcelona and so on. I just hope that they will succeed and b able to win it for their country Africa, which will mean a lot to them.

Miki Mistrati, a Danish reporter working undercover in Ivory Coast, to reveal the extent of forced child labor in the cocoa industry. He claimed himself to owning a cocoa plantation to investigate if there had been any progress in the reduction of child and forced labor in the cocoa industry. He was shocked to find out how openly the trafficking of children was in the region. He came in contact with people that were willing to sell him children for his imaginary cocoa plantation. The reporter was assisted by a Danish television crew to film a documentary on how children where being smuggled across the borders of Ivory Coast to work for people in cocoa plantations.

I think that these people don’t have there heads screwed on right. I know they make good and a lot of money, but why little children? They could rather be in school or helping their parents with their own work. I have seen these pictures of children working in theses cocoa plantations; it gives a horrible feeling to my stomach. To me this isn’t right in any way, shape, or form.

The parliament of Catalonia opened up a debate on whether to abolish bullfighting. They are Spain’s first region to against this thing that represents who Spain really is. There’s this lobby group named Prou!, that put a petition out to abolish this “crime”. They feel that this is torture to the animals being fought. They are going to try to get all of Spain to stop this spectacle. But there going to do it one by one.
My opinion on this article: I support these people because they are standing up for what they believe in and its only one region against all of Spain. I think that takes a lot of courage and determination to do so, but why now? After all; this has been happening in Spain ever since I can possibly remember. That is what makes Spain; Spain. Why does everything seem so cruel or out of line now?
